Hitachi GST

Hitachi have released the GST 8TB G-RAID and single drive G-DRIVE Thunderbolt hard drive solutions.

Both incorporate Hitachi’s 4TB 7,200 RPM drives and come with eSATA, FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 ports with a Thunderbolt port to be included by Quarter 4 2011.

All this within an all aluminum case that acts as a heat sink and includes a quiet smart fan.

The G-RAID drives come pre-configured as RAID 0 and is ready to use out of the box with Mac OS X systems.

It can however be reformatted to work with a Windows system, although Windows XP or older 32-bit operating systems are not supported.
