Hot on the heals of the recently released Thunderbolt enabled Little Big Disk, some more goodies from LaCie.
The LaCie 2big Thunderbolt external hard drive series was unveiled at the recent CES show in Las Vegas.
The LaCie 2big offers either 4TB or 6TB of data storage with transfer rates up to an impressive 311MB/s.

It has a striped RAID set (RAID 0) configured as standard across the two internal drives in order to take advantage of the throughput offered by Thunderbolt. If redundancy is what you need then you can setup a mirrored RAID set (RAID 1). It essentially cuts your storage capacity in half, but provides protection for your data if one disk should fail.
With hot-swappable disks the LaCie 2big allows you to easily replace a faulty disk without losing any data. It also supports JBOD (Just a Bunch of Drives), otherwise known as ‘spanning’. JBOD allows you to combine physical drives in order to create a larger logical drive.
There are two Thunderbolt ports available, allowing you to daisy chain multiple LaCie 2big external drives or other Thunderbolt peripherals. It looks just like the existing Firewire and USB equipped models. The case is made of solid aluminium that helps to dissipate heat and when it gets to a certain temperature the fan will kick in.
Due to be released sometime in the first quarter of 2012 the LaCie 2big comes with a 3 year warranty.
