Thunderbolt technology is starting to gain momentum it seems as another manufacturer Sonnet, announces the release of their Thunderbolt enabled products. The release was due to be in the Summer of 2011, but this has been delayed.
Sonnets Fusion series of storage systems range from a portable solid-state drive unit to the larger four- and eight-drive RAID 5 storage units. They have also released an expansion chassis with Thunderbolt port and two Thunderbolt adapters.
Fusion F2TBR 2
The Fusion F2TBR 2 drive is a RAID 0 set portable SSD storage system with two Thunderbolt ports.
It is very compact, about the size of two stacked CD cases.
The larger Fusion E400TBR5 and Fusion D800TBR5 are four- and eight-drive RAID 5 storage units respectively. Both also have two Thunderbolt ports.
Fusion E400TBR5
Fusion E400TBR5 4 drive RAID 5 desktop storage systems are available in 4, 6, 8, or 12TB configurations. It is nearly twice as fast as similar 4-drive storage systems using an eSATA interface.
Fusion D800TBR5
8-drive RAID 5 desktop storage systems are available in 8, 12, 16, or 24TB configurations.
Both Fusion E400TBR5 and Fusion D800TBR5 storage systems have a built-in hardware RAID controller that supports multiple drive configurations. Drive configuration is managed through an application.
Echo Express PCIe 2.0 Expansion Chassis
The Echo Express PCIe 2.0 Expansion Chassis is available in two sizes with each Chassis having two
Thunderbolt ports.
A Standard Echo Express PCIe 2.0 Expansion Chassis with Thunderbolt Port supports one half-length, double-width, x16 (x4 mode), PCIe 2.0 card. The XL model supports full-length cards. Each model has an integrated power supply and fan to cool the cards.
This allows you to connect full or half length high-performance PCI Express 2.0 adapter cards to any computer with a Thunderbolt port.
Allegro FW800 and Presto Gigabit Ethernet Thunderbolt adapters allow users to connect to either a FireWire 800 device or Gigabit Ethernet connection to a Thunderbolt port.
